first_imgBy Dialogo May 15, 2009 Today the United States Southern Command in El Salvador introduced an unmanned aircraft that could help combat drug trafficking in Central America, and which will be tested in a surveillance center for two weeks. The “Heron” plane, manufactured by the company Israel Aerospace Industries, was presented to Salvadoran authorities by the U.S. Southern Command at a special ceremony in El Salvador. Among those present at the ceremony were Defense Minister of El Salvador Jorge Alberto Molina and the Director of the National Civil Police (PNC), Jose Luis Tobar, along with General Glenn Spears, Deputy Commander, and Ambassador Paul Trivelli, both of U.S. Southern Command. Molina said that drug dealers “are using technology,” and recommended that countries take advantage of technological advances “to carry out the role of protecting the citizenry.” The aircraft will stay for two weeks in the drug surveillance center at the Comalapa military airbase, 44 kilometers south of San Salvador. The monitoring center is operated by the U.S., and has uncovered drug shipments being transported by boat in the Pacific Ocean. U.S. Southern Command Deputy Commander General Glenn Spears said that this plane can be used as a tool against drug trafficking, but its technology also allows it to “assist people in times of natural disaster and rescue missions.” He said tests will be conducted by Salvadoran authorities on “the technical capability of the unmanned system and aircraft sensors” in order to make a decision on this equipment’s usefulness to the surveillance center. The “Heron” belongs to a series of unmanned aircraft possessing video systems and infrared detectors, and is capable of high performance in monitoring missions, according to Ted Venable, U.S. Southern Command. “This is the first deployment of this sort of technology to be used to combat illicit drug trafficking, and this is a unique opportunity to verify with certainty if it is reliable,” said Venable. He explained that the findings will be used to “demonstrate the ability to integrate this technology into normal air traffic” since the military base is located near the El Salvador International Airport, which has the most air traffic in that region. The aircraft, which is operated from a remote station installed on land, may cost between $100,000 and $1 million (USD), depending on the equipment to be included in its manufacture.last_img read more

first_imgPatience paid off for Lance Arneson in the form of the Saturday night IMCA Modified feature win at Shawano Speedway. (Photo by A and H Photos)By Scott OwenSHAWANO, Wis. (May 6) – Lance Arneson proved what mom always said, that patience is a virtue, Saturday at Shawano Speedway.Like a lion stalking his prey, Arneson waited for the optimal moment to pounce, with a turn four pass for the lead on the final lap to win his first IMCA Modified feature of the year.Konnor Wilinski grabbed the lead on lap one as his dad Jerry moved to second. Arneson soon got past Jerry Wilinski to move to second.Konnor Wilinski and Arneson ran away and hid from the rest of the pack as they eventually had a near straight away advantage over third-running Jerry Wilinski. As Konnor Wilinski continued to lead, Arneson stayed within a car length while sizing up the leader and patiently waiting to make a move.Lap after lap ticked away with Konnor Wilinski still leading.  With two laps remaining, Arneson took a peak to the inside. Wilinski shut the door, though, and continued to lead. Entering turn one on the final lap, Arneson again had a nose to the inside of Wilinski but again the leader was faster out of turn two.Entering turn three, Arneson again got inside of Wilinski, and this time he would not be denied as the duo ran side-by-side through turns three and four.  On the front stretch Arneson pulled ahead and beat Wilinski to the checkered flag.Travis Van Straten won a second straight IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature while Jordan Bahrkoltz hoisted the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod trophy.last_img read more

first_imgThe previous edition of the English Championship was fantastic. A lot of teams were battling for direct promotions and playoffs, with Norwich City eventually winning the title just ahead of Sheffield United. The Canaries secured ten victories out of the last fourteen fixtures to make that happen! When it comes to the playoffs, the finals were traditionally played at Wembley between Aston Villa and Derby County. The Birmingham side has made a long-awaited comeback to the Premier League. Those are the squads which have advanced to the top flight this season, so who are the top contenders to win the division this time? The new campaign is officially starting on 2nd August 2019.Who Are The Top Favorites This Time?Leeds United are sitting at the top of favorites list at the moment is priced at 9/2 to win the Championship and regain EPL membership card after 16 years. Their coach Marcelo Bielsa has extended the contract to at least one more year, so there is no doubt they will play a big role. Leeds United have spent a lot of time sitting in top 3 positions last season as well but got dramatically eliminated from the playoffs. ’The Championship has acquired more and more popularity also abroad’ told us Ethan Rowe from a leading Canadian Betting Sites comparison website.Argentine expert and his strategies were working perfectly as Leeds sat at the top of the table on Christmas Day. However, having 10 losses in the last 22 outings have allowed Sheffield United to claim the 2nd position. Leeds were sentenced to at least one more season in the Championship after 4-3 loss to Derby County on aggregate. We also see them ending in the top two positions this time around.Fulham FC has had a couple of decent showings in the PL last year, but the inability to defend well have pushed them back to the Championship. The core of the squad was kept, so it is not surprising to see them listed as a favorite number two to win the division. They are currently priced at 7/1 odds. Some of the most important news for the team and the fans are retentions of Aleksandar Mitrovic and Ryan Sessegnon. The Cottagers have collected only 26 points in the last season. The only squad which had fewer points were Cardiff City. It seems we are going to see at least two more duels between Fulham FC and The Bluebirds this season!Aleksandar Mitrovic staying is a huge boost for FulhamThe most popular team from Wales, Cardiff City are 3rd favorite to win the Championship outright. They were promoted to the EPL two years ago after ending 2nd. The last time they have won this league was in 2012. At the moment this squad is priced at 11/1 odds to win the Championship in 2019/2020.The OutsidersWest Bromwich Albion has had a nice run in the previous campaign, ending it in 4th place. Theplayoffs saw them battle against the city rivals Aston Villa and eventually losing it on penalties! Slaven Bilic was appointed as the new head manager. The Croat expert has a lot of experience in English football, and he is expected to lead the team to a playoffs spot at minimum. Two players which played a big role in the last season Jay Rodriguez and Salomon Rondon have left the squad though. The Baggies are currently priced at 12/1 odds to win this year’s edition of the Championship. Many of you probably remember the odds presented for outright Championship winners last season too. Stoke City was at the top of that list, but they have had a turbulent year. They have spent more time in the bottom half of the table than trying to reach the top six, ending as 16th on the final standings! This squad obviously failed to readapt to the division after spending so many years in the top flight. This time they are backed at 12/1 odds to win the league. We don’t see a lot of potential in backing the Potters, to be honest, as there were no significant changes in the roster.Brentford was labeled as the dark horse for three years straight, but they always seem to wake up too late. Last year they were ten points behind the playoffs line. The price on them to win the league seem like a bad value as well at 13/1.The UnderdogsOne of the most popular value bets in our opinion is backing Middlesbrough to win the league at a whopping 17/1 rate. Jonathan Woodgate is doing a fine job as the manager, as the team ended just one point behind the playoff line in the last campaign. The squad had a lot of struggles with efficiency in the first part of the season, bagging a total of 49 goals. However, the defensive stats were quite impressive (conceded 41 goals). If they could improve the stats in the offense and keep rock-solid defending lineup, there are possibilities! The last dark horse we are going to mention is Bristol City. This team has been making steady progress for the last couple of seasons, especially after they appointed Lee Johnson as the head manager three years ago. Bristol City is priced at 17/1 to win the league as well. The final standings last year saw them end in the 8th place. The main reason for not reaching playoffs was poor form in the late stages, having won only four out of last fourteen outings. first_imgSome things that you might believe make selling easier actually make it far more difficult. You might believe that lowering your price makes it easier for your client to choose you over your competitors. But lowering your price lowers the perception of value that you are creating and makes it more likely that your client chooses a competitor with a lower price. Why? Because you commoditized yourself and made price the issue instead of value. You might believe that allowing your prospect to control “the process” makes you a better salesperson, that by following their commands you are demonstrating what kind of partner you will be, and that doing so increases the likelihood that you are chosen. But allowing your client to control the process eliminates many of the steps you need to take to both create value and position yourself to win. Why? Because not asking for the commitments you need eliminates your ability to create value and makes you transactional. You might believe that not telling your prospective client just how difficult it is going to be to get the result they want, that their own constraints (including under-investing) are the root cause of their problems, and that it is going to take more time, more effort, and more money will make it easier for you to win their business. Maybe it will; but what then will you be charged with?If you want to be a consultative salesperson, a trusted advisor, and a Level 4 Value Creator, then you have to tell the truth. It’s your truthfulness, your candor, and your willingness to help come up with ideas that can help that makes you worth buying from. Avoiding the difficult conversations makes you something less, someone less, someone selling transactionally.Just as fast is slow and slow is fast, difficult is easy and easy is difficult. OSU redshirt junior defensive end Tyquan Lewis leads the Buckeyes into Ohio Stadium as coach Urban Meyer greets each player before the Buckeyes’ 30-27 victory over Michigan on Nov. 26. Credit: Alexa Mavrogianis | Photo EditorLast season, the Ohio State football team relied heavily on its secondary — namely, safety Malik Hooker and cornerbacks Marshon Lattimore, and  Gareon Conley — to be the playmakers and backbone on the Buckeyes’ defense. With the departure of this athletic trio for the NFL draft, however, the “Silver Bullets” will now lean on an experienced defensive line to lead the way for defensive coordinator Greg Schiano in his first full season at the helm of the defense. As spring practice began this week, Schiano said the team has some lofty challenges ahead of it after losing a handful of key components on the roster. However, Schiano said he is looking forward to working with the abilities and skill he has upfront on defense.“That’s a heck of a group and I think we got really elite defensive lineman, and I think we have the best defensive line coach (Larry Johnson) in America,” Schiano said. “So, when you put those two things together, it’s fun to work with those guys and I’m excited to see how it all comes together.”Among those upfront, redshirt senior defensive end Tyquan Lewis returned for his final year of eligibility after the devastating, shutout loss to Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl. Following OSU’s exit out of the College Football Playoff, Lewis said he substantially thought about his plans for the future, but collectively, said he is satisfied with his decision to come back.“After the game, I had a talk with my family, coach (Larry) Johnson, and I had to evaluate some things,” Lewis said. “There was a lot going into it, I had a lot to consider — the pros and cons and everything. I had to make the right decision, so I chose to come back and I feel that, that was what was best for me.”Schiano said that as challenging as it will be, he will need to find a way to get Lewis and a talented group of linemen on the field at the same time. With that, Schiano added that improvements can be made to the rotation of redshirt junior Sam Hubbard, senior Jalyn Holmes and sophomore Nick Bosa on the edges, and redshirt sophomore Dre’Mont Jones and redshirt senior Michael Hill at defensive tackle already implemented into the Buckeyes’ scheme.“Our plan is a very solid and great plan. It keeps everybody fresh. Nobody is playing, like, 70 plays and that’s a good thing,” Lewis said. “Nobody should have to put their bodies through that all the time, and the type of caliber players we have here, you win games like that — with great players.”Despite being the reigning Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year, Lewis said that he still has improvements to make as a pass rusher in his technique with his hands and hips. Lewis also said that when it comes to being recognized for his performance on the field, his main focus is on being the top player at his position.“I mean, I just want to be the best. I just want to go out and play hard for my teammates, that’s the main thing,” he said. “Whatever else comes with all the accolades, I mean, I don’t really get into things like that. I just accept them.” read more

The journey, however, might not be the only thing on the minds of the athletes, as the Buckeyes mourn the loss of former team member, Larry Mayer, who passed away Monday evening.“We recently lost a member of our gymnastics family, and it was very hard for us,” said OSU coach Rustam Sharipov. “Larry Mayer was bright and a great athlete … Our thoughts go to his family and we are thinking of him. As for (the) NCAA championship, we’ve had some rough patches this season … but the guys work very hard and we are ready.”Mayer, 24, graduated in 2015 with a successful season, placing 10th on vault at the Big Ten event finals and seventh on vault at the team finals. He also won vault with a 15.150 against Michigan, and tied for second place on vault against Penn State with a 14.900. He was a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and a three-time OSU Scholar-Athlete.The NCAA championships start on Friday at the Christl Arena at The United States Military Academy at West Point. The championships qualifier begins Friday with two pre-qualifying sessions. The top three teams will advance to Saturday’s final session.Last season, the Buckeyes advanced to the 2016 NCAA championships with a second-place finish at the NCAA pre-qualifier at St. John Arena. However, it was Oklahoma who took home the title with a team score of 443.400 points. Stanford finished second with 434.050, while OSU placed third with 433.050.The Buckeyes will enter the championships ranked third in the all-around, second on pommel horse, third on rings, third on parallel bars and fourth on high bar.“We’ve basically just been making sure that everyone is healthy and everyone feels ready to go this weekend, but we’re actually so prepared that athletes who haven’t competed much this season will compete during the qualifier to give other guys a break,” said junior Seth Delbridge. “We’ve had a great season, and I just want to do the best that we can to earn the title. If we all go in with this outlook, I think we’ll do great.”OSU will compete in the first pre-qualifying session on Friday at 1 p.m. Team, all-around and event finals will take place on Saturday. read more

first_imgNow that placing a price-tag on coveted players has become a tendency, Chelsea decided to do it with Eden Hazard: €110 million if he wants to leave. The winter transfer market is getting more heated up for clubs like Real Madrid, as Los Blancos are still deciding whether they want players like Eden Hazard or Harry Kane.It was just last weekend when Tottenham Hotspur put the price-tag of €350 million for striker Harry Kane after a meeting with Real Madrid officials took place in London before Christmas, this time Chelsea decided to send a message via a report from The Telegraph. The English news outlet issued a report that confirms the Belgian winger could go out of Chelsea soon if any club decided to come after him, but we all know that Real Madrid is the most interested squad to buy the player.Despite the constant speculation about Chelsea requesting an insane amount of money for the player, they are showing good will towards him because of all the titles he has helped the club win during his time with them.Hazard previously mentioned that he wouldn’t leave if Chelsea didn’t come out on top of the negotiation for him, which was also received well amongst the club’s board of directors.Describe este golazo de Hazard 💙 con un emoji 😱— Soy Fan Chelsea (@soyfanchelsea) January 10, 2019President Florentino Perez was adamant in signing Hazard last summer when he led Belgium to the World Cup semifinals, but the initial price that Chelsea requested was above €200 million and Perez refused to pay such a massive sum of cash for the player regardless of how talented he was at the moment. The English club had the hope of winning more trophies under new manager Maurizio Sarri, he promised them to compete for all the titles they would play this season with Eden Hazard as their top player. The new project really excited Eden, which is why he stated a few times that he wouldn’t leave the club any time soon. But things have changed for the Blues within the span of only a few months, they have practically stepped down from the title race as they are currently 10 points behind leaders Liverpool and Hazard has quickly understood that winning more important trophies may not be so easy in England anymore.Jose Mourinho, Lionel MessiMourinho: “Lionel Messi made me a better coach” Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Jose Mourinho believes the experience of going up against Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi at Real Madrid made him a greater coach. The top target for Hazard is to win the Champions League sometime before his career comes to an end, he just realized that Chelsea might not be the place where he can achieve that goal and time is running out.¡HAZARD YA TIENE PRECIO! Según el ‘TELEGRAPH’, el Chelsea PEDIRÁ al menos 112 MILLONES por el belga. Lo cuenta @plazacasals en #ChiringuitoFichajes— El Chiringuito TV (@elchiringuitotv) January 15, 2019Now that Chelsea has put this price-tag on their top player, this is a direct message to Florentino that invites him to make an offer for next summer. The Belgian winger finishes his contract with Chelsea in 2020, this means that next summer will be the last chance for the Blues to ask for a fair price for Hazard and Real Madrid might be the only other club that the player would agree to go to.To those who are not aware, if a player doesn’t renew his contract in time with his club and such contract expires, any squad in the world can take said player free of charge because he would be considered a free agent.Chelsea doesn’t want this scenario to happen, which is why they have decided to make things easier for Real Madrid and let Florentino Perez finally accept that he does need a player as talented as Eden Hazard on his squad. As it is commonly said in Basketball terms, “the ball is on Real Madrid’s court”. It is Los Blancos turn to make a move, they have a big chance to bring one of the best players in the world to their ranks for a fair price.Eden Hazard primer jugador que está temporada logra 10 asistencias en la #EPL— Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFCMI) January 12, 2019What do you think Real Madrid should do now that Chelsea has put this price-tag on Eden Hazard?
