Yesterday marked the 90th anniversary of Chuck Berry’s birth, which the legendary guitarist celebrated by announcing his first album in nearly 40 years. While the momentous news was a perfect way to celebrate, it didn’t preclude other artists from sharing their own tributes.Cue Widespread Panic, as the Southern jam group has long included Berry’s music in their setlists. The band honored Berry’s birthday by digging into their archives and pulling out a gem from 2001. On July 27th, 2001, Panic treated fans to a rendition of Chuck Berry’s hit “Let It Rock” in Pelham, AL. Yesterday, the band shared a crisp audio recording of that performance. They captioned it simply, “Happy 90th Birthday to Mr. Chuck Berry.”Listen to WSP’s “Let It Rock,” streaming below.Panic kicks off a fall tour this Friday, October 21st with a three night run at the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee, WI. The run will lead the band through a three-night stand in Colorado for Halloween, where they’re sure to go all-out for their fans. You can find all of this info and more on the band’s website.
