WARNING: The video above features a recorded segment of animal cruelty that may be disturbing to some viewers. The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an animal cruelty case in Holt that has gotten a lot of attention on social media. The act was recorded and posted last week. The case involves a small puppy named Charlie, who despite what the recorded video claims, is not a stray dog. Charlie has a home that is now incomplete without him.In the recorded video, what appears to be a man’s voice says “Let me show y’all what happens to stray dogs that follow me.” Until someone is charged in the case, WVUA 23 will not use the suspect’s name. Then, the person in the video forcefully throws a small brown dog, identified as Charlie, into a wooded area.Charlie’s owner, Keecia Smith, came home one week ago and could not find her pup. She did not know what happened to her pet until the next day when she saw the horrifying Facebook video.“You really can’t even explain how it feels,” Smith said. “If I was to explain it, I would say look at that video and think of it as a child, a toddler. I don’t see the difference of having four legs or two legs. When I looked at it, I see it as my baby being tossed and abused.”Smith said she is remaining hopeful that Charlie is out there and will one day come home. If you have any information on this crime or Charlie’s whereabouts, please contact the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office at (205) 752-0616.
