first_imgRohit Sharma and wife Ritika Sajdeh joined the rest Team India at St Regis where Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s wedding reception was as held on Tuesday.Kohli had tied the knot with Anushka on December 11 in Tuscany, Italy in an intimate ceremony. The couple returned to India a few days later and held a reception in Delhi for their families and close friends on December 11.The reception in Mumbai was always touted to be more high-profile. The entire Indian team was present in the city. India had recently completed a T20I series whitewash over Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium.The Test specialists had also reached Mumbai as the team is scheduled to leave for South Africa on December 27 for a three-Test series.Rohit and Kohli are close friends and have mutual respect for each other’s cricketing abilities. When Kohli took a break from the ODIs and T20Is against Sri Lanka, Rohit stood in as captain and delivered series triumphs for India with an unprecedented third ODI double hundred and the joint-fastest T20 International hundred.On Tuesday, a galaxy of cricket stars arrived at St Regis to bless the newly-married couple.Anil Kumble, who had stepped down as India coach earlier this year following differences with Kohli was spotted at the reception. Virender Sehwag, who was in the running to succeed Kumble as coach also attended as did former captain Sunil Gavaskar.Sandeep Patil, former chief selector, who had said Rohit was currently a better batsman than Kohli in limited-overs, was also in attendance. Sachin Tendulkar was obviously another high-profile guest as he attended with his wife Anjali and daughter Sara.advertisementThen there was MS Dhoni, who walked in with wife Sakshi and daughter Ziva, who clearly soaked in the attention. And there were several other current Team India members.Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravindra Jajdea, Wriddhiman Saha, Kuldeep Yadav, R Ashwin, Manish Pandey, Umesh Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal and Jasprit Bumrah were there as were Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuvraj Singh and Ashish Nehra.The Indian Test specialists will leave for South Africa on December 27 to play a three-Test series from January 5.Recently, in an interview with India Today, Rohit said Kohli was currently the best batsman in the world and said the captain’s discipline has helped him reach at the pinnacle.”His performance has been tremendous since he made his debut.
