Aly Raisman Tweets About Ohio State, Calls It “Disappointing”

first_imgA photo of Aly Raisman.Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman has been an outspoken member of the #MeToo movement. She has been upfront about the sexual abuse she endured at the hands of disgraced former Michigan State and US gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar, testifying against Nassar in open court.Tonight, Raisman weighed in on the situation at Ohio State. Urban Meyer and AD Gene Smith were both suspended following an investigation into their handling of domestic abuse allegations against former assistant coach Zach Smith.Meyer was docked three games–though he can return to the team for practices after Week 1–while Smith has been suspended for a couple of weeks. Many feel they deserved a stiffer punishment.Based off Raisman’s comment on Twitter, she would agree with that assessment.“Ohio State is another example of an organization that puts money, reputation and winning above safety,” she said. “So disappointing.”Ohio State is another example of an organization that puts money, reputation and winning above safety. So disappointing.— Alexandra Raisman (@Aly_Raisman) August 23, 2018Like anyone else, Raisman is entitled to her opinion on what happened at OSU and how it was handled. You shouldn’t be surprised that she shared it. She’s always willing to speak her mind and put herself out there. She probably won’t be the last person to voice her opinion on the matter either.last_img
